Valentino Vendetta Uomo: Ginger, Cinnamon and Patchouli Take the Lead
Valentino Vendetta Uomo opens a new chapter in the Maison’s masculine fragrance wardrobe with a woody and spicy composition built around Peruvian ginger, a cinnamon liquor accord and patchouli essence.
Created by Master Perfumer Marie Salamagne of DSM-Firmenich, Vendetta Uomo arrives alongside Vendetta Donna, forming Valentino’s new fragrance duo built around two distinct yet complementary olfactory signatures. Rather than expanding the Born in Roma universe once again, Valentino gives the fragrance its own visual and olfactory identity, with a new bottle dominated by an architectural V and a warm amber-coloured juice.
At the top, the fragrance focuses on sparkling ginger from Peru. Valentino highlights a particularly interesting technical detail here: the ginger extract is obtained through supercritical CO₂ extraction using organic ginger grown in high-altitude Peruvian rainforests. According to the brand, the process took two years and around 100 tests to develop, with the aim of capturing a broader aromatic spectrum of the root, from its bright freshness to its warmer spicy facets.

A cinnamon liquor heart
The heart introduces what is probably the most intriguing part of the composition: an exclusive cinnamon liquor accord. Valentino describes it as warm, spicy and gourmand, adding a richer and more sensual dimension to the freshness of the ginger.
Patchouli essence forms the base, bringing structure and a darker woody depth. The result, at least on paper, sounds less interested in playing the familiar fresh-aromatic game and more focused on contrast: brightness against warmth, spice against liquor, and an earthy woody base underneath it all.

A new V for Valentino
The bottle moves away from the studded language associated with Born in Roma. Vendetta Uomo uses a bold V-shaped motif carved into the architectural glass, while a pleated black cap references the folds and tailoring codes of the Maison. The amber liquid makes the spicy direction immediately visible, because apparently even perfume bottles now understand the importance of foreshadowing.
Valentino presents Vendetta as a duo, with Uomo and Donna described as two distinct compositions connected by a shared idea of instinct, desire and emotional intensity.

What makes Vendetta Uomo interesting?
The ingredient list is deliberately concise in the brand’s communication, which gives each of the three central materials room to define the fragrance. Ginger is not unusual in men’s perfumery, but pairing its sparkling freshness with a cinnamon liquor accord gives Vendetta Uomo a potentially warmer, more textured direction. The patchouli base should provide the weight needed to keep the composition from drifting into simple spicy sweetness.
Of course, a note pyramid can only tell us so much. Whether the liquor effect feels genuinely boozy, how prominent the patchouli becomes and how the ginger behaves beyond the opening will have to wait for an actual skin test. Perfume marketing has never met an adjective it did not love, so noses remain useful.
There is also something refreshingly focused about the composition on paper. Rather than presenting an endless list of notes, Valentino Vendetta Uomo revolves around a small number of clearly defined contrasts. The freshness of ginger, the warmth of cinnamon liquor and the earthy depth of patchouli suggest a fragrance built more around texture and tension than complexity for complexity’s sake.
