Balenciaga Pink Oud: Damask Rose in a Dark Bottle

Preview disclosure: Linda, I have not smelled or worn Balenciaga Pink Oud. This article is based on Balenciaga’s published description and product details. Any thoughts about how it might develop are questions for a future skin test, not a review of its performance.

Pink Oud sounds as though it should arrive dressed in pink. Balenciaga has given it a bottle so dark it almost absorbs the colour around it. I like that little contradiction: the rose has the name, while the flacon seems to belong to the oud. Now I want to know whether the perfume itself has the same tension.

Pink Oud joins Amber Crush and Vanilla XXL in Balenciaga’s Les Extraits trio, reported as new additions in August 2026. The official Italian product page centres the composition on Damask rose and an Assafi oud accord, describing the result as luminous yet intense. It is a familiar pairing, but the words Balenciaga has chosen make me curious about which side gets the upper hand.

Rose and Oud, Without a Long Pyramid

Balenciaga gives the Damask rose the starring role: floral volume and what the house calls couture sensuality. The oud accord is meant to bring deeper, more vibrant woody facets. In the product page’s separate olfactory-notes section, Balenciaga also refers to Cambodian oud. It does not publish a top, heart and base pyramid, so there is no reason to invent one.

Rose and oud have met often enough in perfumery that their presence alone tells me very little. The interesting part is the texture. Will this rose feel lush and petal-soft, or polished and abstract? Will the oud bring a rough edge, or keep everything smooth? Balenciaga promises both color and clarity; I want to know how much friction survives between them.

That is also why the word “accord” matters. It is the brand’s description of the olfactory effect, not a disclosed recipe. If you want the longer version of that distinction, I wrote about why perfume notes are not ingredients.

I have enjoyed this pairing in other forms. In my review of eRosion, the rose and oud took me somewhere unexpectedly personal. Pink Oud may do something entirely different; until I wear it, the comparison stops at the shared idea.

A Bottle That Does Not Blush

The packaging makes a stronger first impression than the note list. Balenciaga presents the Extraits in dark-toned, refillable glass flacons, with a black woven cord tied by hand around the neck. The brand says that detail takes inspiration from a work by Cristóbal Balenciaga. Pink Oud is made, sealed and packaged in France.

There is a satisfying refusal to make this rose look delicate. The bottle is not trying to explain the perfume by turning pink; it leaves that work to what is inside. I would like the fragrance to be just as sure of itself.

Price, Format and a Sensible First Step

Balenciaga Pink Oud is a 100 ml Extrait de Parfum. Balenciaga’s Italian site listed it at €320 on 26 September 2026; price and availability may change. The flacon is refillable, and the house also offers a Les Extraits discovery set containing Pink Oud, Amber Crush and Vanilla XXL. The set was listed at €150 when checked on the same date.

The product page invites buyers to try the sample before opening an extrait’s packaging. At this price, that is excellent advice. A dramatic bottle can make a first impression, but it cannot tell me how the rose behaves after an hour, how the oud sits on my skin or whether the composition stays interesting once the opening has gone.

What I Want to Find Out

My first impression of Pink Oud is visual and conceptual, not olfactory. The dark bottle has my attention. The Damask rose and Assafi oud accord give me a reason to seek out a sample. What I need from the actual perfume is a little more character than the name alone can promise.

If the rose has the generous presence Balenciaga describes and the oud gives it real depth, this could be a compelling addition to the rose-and-oud shelf. If everything is polished until the contrast disappears, it will be harder to justify the price. For now, that is an open question, not a verdict. I would rather let my nose answer it than ask the bottle to do all the talking.
