La Vie Est Belle L’Elixir Very Cherry is Lancôme’s new woody cherry fragrance for 2026, and yes, the perfume industry has found another cherry. Before we all stage an intervention, however, this one arrives with a more interesting supporting cast than the usual syrup, almond and vanilla routine: violet leaf absolute, warm oud, cocoa butter absolute and Madagascar vanilla infusion.
The fragrance was created by Antoine Maisondieu and Christophe Raynaud, the perfumers behind the original La Vie Est Belle L’Elixir. Lancôme describes Very Cherry as its first woody cherry, built to balance brightness and depth, playfulness and sophistication. Those are ambitious words for a perfume wearing shimmering cherry wings, but ambition has never frightened this family.
What does La Vie Est Belle Very Cherry smell like?
The structure is concise. A decadent black cherry accord provides the juicy opening; violet leaf absolute introduces a green, powdery and slightly nostalgic texture; and a warm oud accord gives the fragrance its darker base. Lancôme enriches that oud with cocoa butter absolute and a Madagascar vanilla infusion, so nobody should expect Very Cherry to abandon pleasure and suddenly become a severe oud study in a silent library.
What makes the composition promising is the tension between those materials. Cherry can become sticky very quickly, while violet leaf can feel cool, vegetal and almost metallic. Oud adds shadow; cocoa butter and vanilla soften its edges. On paper, the formula reads less like a straightforward cherry gourmand and more like an attempt to give L’Elixir a darker, woodier silhouette without losing the accessibility that made La Vie Est Belle an empire.

A cherry flanker with an actual point of view
Very Cherry is not presented as a random seasonal costume for the original La Vie Est Belle. It belongs specifically to the L’Elixir branch, whose signature already revolves around violet leaf. Keeping that material at the centre gives the new edition a reason to exist beyond the fact that cherry continues to photograph extremely well next to glossy glass.
The move toward oud is equally calculated. It brings density and warmth, but the cocoa and vanilla treatment suggests polish rather than barnyard drama. This is still Lancôme, after all, not an olfactory dare issued in a basement. The objective appears to be contrast: fruit that feels vivid rather than childish, sweetness with a darker frame, and a woody base that remains easy to wear.
The bottle: cherry wings and zero restraint
Glass designer Suzanne Dalton reworks the familiar La Vie Est Belle bottle with a dark cherry gradient, the engraved crystal smile and sparkling cherry-colored wings. It is glamorous, literal and completely uninterested in minimalism. In other words, it understands the assignment.

Is it worth trying?
Based on the official composition, this is one of the more editorially convincing La Vie Est Belle flankers: a recognizable fruit, two major perfumers and a clear attempt to create friction between juicy, green, powdery and woody facets. It could still become very sweet on skin — cocoa butter and vanilla have not arrived to discuss fiscal policy — but the violet leaf and oud give it a better chance of feeling dimensional.
A full review will follow after proper testing from samples, including performance, development and the only question that ultimately matters: does the cherry remain elegant once the first glamorous entrance is over? Early spoiler: this one may be much harder to ignore than expected.
My Unnecessarily Necessary Final Thought
La Vie Est Belle Very Cherry sounds like the perfume equivalent of arriving at dessert in an excellent black coat: still sweet, still dramatic, but suddenly much more composed. Cherry fatigue is real. Unfortunately for our self-control, so is good perfume.
