BOSS Bottled Striking Lavender Review: Vibrant, Easy to Wear, but Not Quite My Lavender

This Boss Bottled Striking Lavender review should probably start with a confession: lavender is not usually one of my favourite notes in perfumery. So, despite the name, BOSS Bottled Striking Lavender was never guaranteed an easy victory with me.

The opening is probably the part I enjoy the least. It is fresh and undeniably vibrant, but also slightly too sharp for my nose, with an almost plastic-like nuance that I find difficult to ignore.

Curiously, I would never immediately describe it as smelling distinctly of lavender. I can understand how certain aspects of the fragrance might evoke the flower, but this is not the aromatic, recognisably lavender-forward composition its name might suggest.

According to BOSS, this limited-edition Eau de Parfum combines vibrant lavender and mineral notes with an earthy base and woody depth inspired by the original BOSS Bottled. On my skin, however, the lavender feels more like an abstract inspiration than a clearly identifiable note. And I’m not complaining about that.

It gets better with time

The evolution is where Boss Bottled Striking Lavender becomes considerably more enjoyable to me. It retains its vibrant, almost refreshing character, but gradually loses some of the sharpness of the opening. As it settles, it becomes softer, smoother and easier to wear.

This is probably its greatest strength. Boss Bottled Striking Lavender feels uncomplicated and versatile, particularly suited to daytime wear. It has enough freshness to remain lively without becoming excessively bright, while the softer drydown makes it pleasantly approachable.

Performance was decent on my skin. It did not surprise me with enormous projection or exceptional longevity, but it remained present long enough to feel appropriate for this kind of easy, everyday fragrance.

I also have to mention the bottle. The blue gradient finish is genuinely beautiful and gives the familiar BOSS Bottled design a more vivid and contemporary appearance.

Is this my favourite flanker from the line? Probably not. The opening is a little too sharp and plastic-like for my taste, and I never fully found the recognisable lavender character suggested by the name.

Still, the smoother evolution makes it much more enjoyable than my initial impression suggested. It is fresh, versatile and extremely easy to wear, especially during the day. Not a fragrance I would call unforgettable, but certainly a pleasant and accessible addition to the BOSS Bottled collection.

Now I have to admit that I am really curious to see whether the new BOSS Bottled Beyond Eau de Toilette Intense will be more my kind of BOSS.
