Francis Kurkdjian has now taken it to dusk, replacing airy innocence with liqueur-like jasmine, syrupy fruit and the kind of excess that costs €440 for 80 ml. The angel has not fallen, but it has definitely discovered nightlife. Et voilà, we have Jasmin des Anges Esprit de Parfum!

From sunlight to dusk

The original Jasmin des Anges, created by François Demachy in 2018, was conceived as a luminous portrait of Grasse. Jasmine unfolded through honeyed apricot nectar, creating a floral gourmand that felt bright, soft and almost weightless despite its sweetness.

Jasmin des Anges Esprit de Parfum changes the hour and the temperature. Francis Kurkdjian imagines a jasmine field at dusk, after the flowers have absorbed the heat of the day. Their scent becomes denser, more intoxicating and distinctly liqueur-like, while the fruity character turns juicier and more concentrated.

This is therefore more than a routine concentration upgrade. The original silhouette remains recognizable, but the emotional register shifts from dreamy sunlight to amber-colored excess.

Francis Kurkdjian enters the jasmine field

The Esprits de Parfum allow Kurkdjian to reinterpret fragrances that were largely created before his arrival at Dior. Rather than erasing their identity, he pushes one facet until it becomes almost radical. With Jasmin des Anges Esprit de Parfum, that facet is the relationship between jasmine and ripe fruit.

Grandiflorum jasmine forms the centre of the composition, enriched by strawberry and peach. Dior does not publish a traditional top, heart and base pyramid, preferring to describe an intense floral nectar with fruity nuances. The effect promised is syrupy without abandoning light, balancing the radiance of the flower against the density of its liqueur-like heart.

Esprit de Parfum is not simply “Intense”

Dior introduced the Esprits de Parfum as highly concentrated extraits that revisit the iconic signatures of La Collection Privée. The language is deliberately dramatic: these fragrances are designed to approach the limits, reveal more radical facets and embrace excess.

Jasmin des Anges joins a collection that already includes reinterpretations of Gris Dior, Ambre Nuit, Lucky, Bois d’Argent, Rouge Trafalgar and Oud Ispahan. Its arrival feels particularly logical. The original already possessed a gourmand texture, giving Kurkdjian a clear path toward something richer without forcing the fragrance into an unrelated direction.

The bottle makes the change visible

The Esprit de Parfum keeps the clean cylindrical architecture of La Collection Privée, but the black cap and black couture label immediately separate it from the Eau de Parfum. The amber liquid becomes part of the visual story, suggesting the warmth, density and almost edible richness of the composition before it reaches the skin.

The presentation is restrained by Dior standards, yet suitably severe. This may be a fragrance about jasmine and ripe fruit, but the bottle refuses to dress like a pastel floral. It arrives in black, because apparently even angels need an evening wardrobe.

How different will it really smell?

On paper, the shift is clear. The original centres on jasmine, apricot and honey, while the Esprit emphasizes jasmine grandiflorum with strawberry and peach. The new version should feel darker, fruitier and more saturated, with the floral material pushed closer to nectar than petals.

Still, concentration alone does not guarantee greater beauty. Jasmin des Anges has always relied on the tension between gourmand pleasure and luminous transparency. If the Esprit preserves enough air around its syrupy core, it could become a compelling evening counterpart to the original. If every facet is simply made louder, the angel may end up wearing too much perfume. A proper skin test will decide.
