Ex Nihilo describes Demon Dancer as a tribute to unapologetic self expression, inspired by the intensity of a contemporary dance performance. The fragrance follows that idea as a choreography on skin, moving between airy freshness and grounded intensity, private trance and shared euphoria.
The result is not presented as a dark or gothic fragrance. Its drama comes from contrast: sharp green fruit against luminous citrus, a radiant floral heart against a dense framework of contemporary woody materials.
The composition
Ex Nihilo Demon Dancer opens with rhubarb, bergamot, peppermint and blood orange. Rhubarb brings a tart, green sharpness, while peppermint adds a cool kinetic edge. The citrus notes supply brightness, preventing the opening from becoming too austere or aggressively vegetal.
At the heart, orange blossom takes the leading role. Blackcurrant introduces a darker fruity tension, giving the floral centre a slightly pulsing quality rather than a conventionally clean or delicate character.
The drydown is built around Georgywood™, Akigalawood™ and Ambrofix™, supported by musks and tonka bean. Together, these materials promise projection, texture and warmth, while keeping the composition in the polished, highly diffusive territory closely associated with modern Ex Nihilo releases.

Jordi Fernández returns to Ex Nihilo
Ex Nihilo Demon Dancer was composed by Jordi Fernández and marks his fifteenth creation for the house. It continues one of Ex Nihilo’s most recognizable creative partnerships, following fragrances that have helped define the brand’s recent identity, including Blue Talisman.
Here, Fernández appears to work with a familiar vocabulary of brightness, diffusion and sleek woody materials, but the combination of rhubarb, peppermint and orange blossom gives the formula its own rhythmic tension. On paper, it reads as fresh without being merely fresh, floral without becoming traditionally romantic, and woody without sacrificing movement.
A very Ex Nihilo kind of spectacle
There is an obvious risk with a name like Demon Dancer: the perfume could become more costume than character. Yet the official composition suggests something more controlled. The drama is not delivered through smoke, leather or syrupy darkness, but through speed, contrast and radiance.
That choice feels particularly aligned with Ex Nihilo. The house often treats freshness as something luxurious and forceful rather than transparent or forgettable. Ex Nihilo Demon Dancer seems designed for the same audience, especially anyone drawn to the bright, musky and contemporary profile of Blue Talisman, although this is a separate composition and should not be reduced to a flanker in disguise.
Whether the rhubarb remains vivid on skin, whether peppermint truly cuts through the orange blossom, and how prominent the woody base becomes are questions that only a proper wear test can answer. For now, the note list alone makes this one of the more intriguing Ex Nihilo launches of the year. Also, any perfume willing to call itself Demon Dancer has already understood the importance of making an entrance.

Ex Nihilo Demon Dancer Eau de Parfum launched in 2026 and is offered in 50 ml and 100 ml bottles. At the time of writing, the official US prices are $265 for 50 ml and $385 for 100 ml.
