Narciso Rodriguez All of Me Review: A Rose I Almost Missed
My first encounter with Narciso Rodriguez All of Me Eau de Parfum was remarkably uneventful.
I smelled almost nothing.
I was in a perfume shop, I had already tried several fragrances, and the air was doing what perfume-shop air usually does: attempting to wear the entire inventory at once.
Perhaps my nose had simply clocked out.
Whatever the reason, All of Me barely registered. I know Narciso Rodriguez has a reputation for musky fragrances with a clean, soft presence, but this felt like taking discretion a little too seriously.
Fortunately, the sales assistants were lovely and prepared a 3 ml sample for me.
Back in the relative peace of my room, which also doubles as my study, I tried it again.
This time, I could smell it.
Very much so.

All of Me Opens With a Rose and an Eye Roll
My immediate reaction was:
“Oh. Another rose fragrance.”
Accompanied, naturally, by an upward eye roll.
I love roses as flowers. In perfume, our relationship is more complicated.
For someone who happily falls apart over white florals, being suspicious of the queen of flowers feels faintly disrespectful. But rose can easily move into a style I associate with an aunt’s dressing table, and that is rarely what I am looking for.
That association is entirely personal. There are plenty of interesting rose fragrances, and lately I have encountered more interpretations that make me reconsider my prejudices.
Still, my nose apparently likes to begin negotiations with a complaint.
Narciso Rodriguez All of Me soon made that complaint feel slightly premature.
The rose I smell here is bright, fresh and carefree. It has an immediately pleasant quality that makes the opening easy to enjoy, even for someone arriving with unnecessary floral baggage.
Is it a rose I have never smelled before?
No.
Is it a lovely rose?
Yes, and I do not think every fragrance needs to introduce a previously undiscovered flower to justify its existence.
There is nothing dark or mysterious about the way it comes across on my skin. It feels open and uncomplicated, which suits the softer side of Narciso Rodriguez that I associate with the house.
The Official Notes and What My Nose Finds
The brand highlights white peony, geranium bourbon, rose centifolia, a heart of musk and sandalwood. Its fuller description also mentions black iris, tuberose and amber. The accompanying story explains that six musk notes are combined with milky facets to create a creamy effect.
That last detail makes sense to me.
After the brighter rose opening, I begin to notice a softer side to the fragrance. “Almost creamy” is the description I keep coming back to.
I do not experience it as a sequence of clearly separated ingredients. I am not sitting here identifying peony, followed by geranium, followed by a punctual appearance from sandalwood.
What I notice in Narciso Rodriguez All of Me is the change in texture.
The fragrance becomes gentler and more enveloping, while the initial brightness settles into something quieter. That transition is where All of Me starts to feel particularly comfortable to wear.
The rose caught my attention. The softer development is what makes me want to keep smelling my skin.
An Everyday Fragrance With Bedtime Potential
Would I describe All of Me as pleasant?
Very.
I can easily imagine wearing it on an ordinary day when I want a fragrance that feels fresh and put together without requiring much thought.
It does not make me want to plan an outfit around it or invent an occasion worthy of the application. Sometimes I simply want to smell nice while getting on with my life.
All of Me fits that mood.
I would also happily wear it before bed.
I sometimes reach for a gentle fragrance at night simply because I enjoy having something soft and familiar around me. Occasionally, that ritual has even involved a lightly scented pillow.
This is about comfort and pleasure, rather than expecting perfume to perform medical services.
All of Me’s quieter, almost creamy phase feels well suited to that personal ritual. A little rose, a little softness, and no demand that I remain awake to appreciate a dramatic plot twist.
Narciso Rodriguez All of Me Performance on My Skin
The opening is the most noticeable part of the experience for me.
That is when I perceive the fragrance most clearly, with more projection than it has later in the wear.
As the softer texture develops, All of Me becomes more intimate and subdued. I find myself noticing it closer to my skin rather than experiencing the same outward presence as the opening.
That progression feels consistent with the gentle, musky character I associate with Narciso Rodriguez.
I would describe the performance I have observed so far as discreet. I am still testing the sample, so I am not assigning it a precise number of hours.
What I can say is that its changing presence is part of the experience: brighter at first, quieter as it settles.
The Bottle and My Unhelpful Bowling Association
The bottle is where my enthusiasm becomes less convincing.
I do not think it is ugly. The pale pink color is appealing, and I can see the intention behind its curved, faceted shape.

Unfortunately, my brain has decided that it resembles a bowling pin.
Once that association arrived, there was very little I could do about it.
I would love to offer a sophisticated analysis of the design, but apparently my contribution is “bowling, with a rose-gold cap”.
Sorry, Narciso.
It is a perfectly reasonable bottle that simply does not appeal to me as much as some of the house’s other designs.
Would I Buy Narciso Rodriguez All of Me?
Probably not.
That is less damning than it sounds.
I have enjoyed testing Narciso Rodriguez All of Me. The luminous rose is attractive, the softer development is comforting, and I can see it working very well as an easy everyday fragrance.
But there are already a couple of Narciso Rodriguez fragrances higher on my wish list. I have also recently discovered a tuberose fragrance that deserves my attention, which will surprise absolutely nobody familiar with my white-floral tendencies.
Enjoying a perfume does not automatically mean wanting a full bottle.
All of Me has earned a much better impression than our first encounter suggested. What began as an apparent absence turned into a bright rose with a softer, almost creamy side that I genuinely enjoy wearing.
It may not be my next purchase.
But it deserved that second spray.
